The Tony Harris Coffee Break collection is a series of short stories centred around Tony’s visits to the Coffee Drop for a flat white of a morning. The series was inspired by the fun atmosphere that is evident in the shop, probably because of the excellent flat white they serve there. The collection includes ‘Hummusexual’ and ‘3:01’.
This series, Tony Harris, holds the answers to all of those questions.

I left Cadden’s office to be met on the landing below by Peter Smith.
“That seemed to work well. You got Raffles out of there like a hot snot,” he said with a grin.
“It was a good plan,” I said. “It took them by surprise, Cadden has a few things to think about now.”
Ken Tierney was coming in at ten to meet with Peter and me to discuss the HEFT project further. We were a bit concerned about the construction budget and needed his perspective on some ideas we had formulated to increase it with minimal impact on his bank account. I assembled the files and brought everything to our meeting room while Peter completed his renderings for our proposal.
Ken arrived on time, and we adjourned to the meeting room on the ground floor of the building. It was Peter and Ken’s first time to meet and they basically circled each other as would two boxers meeting in a ring for the first time. I got the meeting started.
HEFT wanted a three-storey building with individual living accommodation included on each level, a medical centre/clinic for the sole needs of the occupants, parking, and some curious little components that were vital to them but made little sense to us.
The ground floor would hold a number of one bedroom apartments, or ‘efficiencies’ as HEFT referred to them, a small medical clinic, a full-time security centre, porter station and reception area, janitor room and admin office, and a communal recreation space.
The first floor would feature slightly larger apartments, as would the second floor, which would also host a gym, crèche, and full-scale laundry. There was also a requirement for three large lockable empty spaces.
We ignored the accommodation requirement and the placement of everything and came up with a really cool design that would include everything they needed on the site.
I left“News from the front line, Tony,” he said. “We have a start to a negotiation.”
“Go on,” I said, as I watched Tara Jones walk in my direction.
She was looking really nice. I held my finger up to indicate the phone call and she stood at the car window while I talked to Cadden. I could see that my mother was watching us from behind the curtains of the bedroom window.
“Ok, he’s upped his offer. It’s contingent on you being in attendance at tomorrow’s meeting. €20,000 total settlement.”
“Tell him to fuck off. We’d want that just to cover the security guards at the meeting tomorrow. Have they sent the paperwork we requested yet?”
“Yes, we’ve got most of it.”
“Ok, tell him we’re not budging from €105,000 and that he has to stay one kilometre away from me.”
“I’m on it. I’ll let you know.”
I rolled the window down with a weary smile.
“Sorry about that, Tara … work.”
She placed her hand on the window cill. “Hi, Anto.”
“What can I do for you?” I asked.
“I hear you’re going away for a bit.”
“Yes.”
“I didn’t want to let you go without apologising for what happened between us the other night.”
I touched her hand. “There’s no need, Tara. Honestly.”
“Thanks, I’m relieved. I hear you’re seeing Clodagh Murray.”
“We had a couple of dates; I wouldn’t call it seeing her.”
“We never had a date.”
“To my eternal regret, Tara.”
She smiled. “It’s never too late you know.”
“What do you mean?”
“We could go on a date, if you’re willing.”
“When?”
“Whenever.”
“I’m leaving town on Saturday, Tara.”
“I know.”
“I’ll tell you what, can you leave it with me for now? I can’t commit to anything right now. Can I call you later or whenever?”
“Yes, thanks, Anto.”
She kissed me and skipped away. Bitch! She had a fantastic little bum though, God bless her. The phone rang. Cadden again.
I laughed. “Mr. Cadden, we’ll have to stop meeting like this.”
“Very good, Tony. Ok, more news from the front. His offer is seventy grand and he doesn’t even want to be in the same country as you.”
“You’re breaking my heart,” I said. “That’s acceptable but we want the full ask and no less.”
“Jesus, you’re a hard negotiator. I’ll put that to him now. Give me a few minutes.”
I went into the house and switched the kettle on. My mother walked into the kitchen behind me.
“Are you making tea, love?” she asked.
“Yes, do you want one?”
“Please. Busy day?”
“A little and it’s not over yet.”
She grimaced a little. “Is there something going on?”
I laid the whole thing out for her. She put her arms around me just as the phone rang.
“I hope this is the end of it now,” I said, and answered the call.
Tony Harris arrived in Stamford Connecticut, USA, exiled there by a ruthless boss with instructions not to divulge any details about his previous life. A million questions went unanswered, who he is, what he is, where did he come from, what was his background and many many more. This series, Tony Harris, holds the answers to all of those questions.
Tony Harris arrives at the home of Ruth James and gets an education that he could never put a price on.
The phone sounded with a low buzz as it lay on the bed cover. I flipped it over so it wouldn’t light up the darkening hospital room too much.
Jenna sat quietly in the car as we travelled to my apartment. She stroked my leg as I drove, sending sparks of electricity straight to my penis and I feared that it was impossible for her to avoid noticing the rather large bulge in my trousers.
My phone dinged a text somewhere on the carpet of the bedroom. I reached out to
get my trousers from the floor and removed the phone from my pocket. Eight texts,
seven of which I didn’t hear coming in.
